KENYA FOREST SERVICE AND BRITAM GROUP CONDUCT GROUP LIFE ASSURANCE AND MEDICAL COVER SENSITIZATION FOR MAU REGION STAFF

The Kenya Forest Service (KFS), Mau Region, held a sensitization programme on Britam Group Life Assurance (G.L.A.) and Medical Cover at the Regional Forest Conservator’s (RFC) office. The initiative underscores KFS’s commitment to safeguarding employee welfare, promoting staff awareness of insurance benefits, and ensuring that employees are adequately informed about the medical and life assurance provisions available to them.

The programme brought together facilitators from Britam Group and staff from the Nakuru County Forest Conservancy (CFC) office and the Mau Regional Forest Conservator’s office for an interactive engagement on the available insurance benefits, coverage provisions, and the importance of understanding the terms governing their medical and life assurance schemes.

Through its Human Resource Welfare Department, the Service continues to champion employee welfare by facilitating access to relevant information and promoting awareness of benefits designed to support staff and their dependents. Britam Group, as the insurance partner, plays a critical role in explaining the applicable coverage and benefits and helping employees understand the provisions available to them under the policy.

Speaking during the session, the Regional Commandant, Mr. David Mutoro, emphasized the importance of sensitizing staff on their medical covers to enhance their understanding of the benefits available and facilitate informed use of the scheme. He further requested Britam Group, through the KFS Human Resource Department, to consider the healthcare needs and accessibility challenges of staff serving in Kericho, Bomet, Narok, and Baringo counties, which form part of the Mau Region. His remarks underscored the need for responsive medical cover arrangements that take into account the geographical spread of staff and their access to healthcare services.

In his closing remarks, the Nakuru CFC Head, Mr. Osoro Humprey Monari, appreciated Britam Group for facilitating the sensitization programme and commended the staff who attended for taking time out of their schedules to participate in the engagement. He emphasized the value of continued collaboration between KFS and Britam Group and requested the insurance provider to consider establishing a platform for continuous interaction. Such a platform would provide an avenue for staff to seek clarification, raise concerns, obtain timely information, and maintain ongoing engagement with the insurance provider on matters relating to their medical and life assurance benefits.

The programme reaffirmed KFS’s commitment to placing employee welfare at the center of its institutional priorities. By working collaboratively with service providers such as Britam Group, the Service continues to promote staff awareness, strengthen access to relevant welfare information, and support a workforce that is better informed, protected, and equipped to deliver on its forest conservation and management mandate.

Through its partnership with KFS, Britam Group Life Assurance provides life-related benefits to eligible employees or their beneficiaries, subject to the applicable policy terms and conditions. This partnership complements KFS’s broader employee welfare efforts by helping provide financial protection for eligible staff and their beneficiaries while reinforcing the importance of understanding and utilizing the benefits available under the scheme.
