The Project for Strengthening Forestry Sector Development and Community Resilience to Climate Change through Sustainable Forest Management and Landscape Restoration (SFS-CORECC) is being implemented by the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry (MECCF), Kenya Forest Service (KFS), and Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI), in collaboration with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) since January 2022.
This project aimed to further strengthen the policy and implementation capacity of the central and local governments, and contribute to increasing tree cover by supporting the promotion of commercial forestry and the development and diffusion of drought-resistant trees.
Overall Goal
Sustainable forest management and landscape restoration are promoted to assist in achieving over 30% tree cover and growing 15 billion trees by 2032
