Chaplains from Kenya’s uniformed disciplined services have converged at the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) Headquarters, Karura, for a three-day training aimed at strengthening spiritual leadership, pastoral care and professional chaplaincy. The training, running from 1st to 3rd October 2026 under the theme “Equipping the Chaplain for the Work of Ministry,” brings together representatives from the KFS, KWS, KPS, APS, Kenya Prisons Service and NYS.
The training was officially opened by Principal Senior Deputy Chief Conservator of Forests (PSDCCF), Dr. Clement Ng’oriareng, on behalf of the Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF). In welcoming the participants, Dr. Ng’oriareng recognized the partnership with Way of Truth Ministries and officially declared the training open.
In his remarks, Dr. Ng’oriareng emphasized the important role of chaplains in guiding, leading, counselling and supporting officers, their families and institutions. He encouraged the participants to be ready to take on every task entrusted to them, emphasizing that professional excellence should be supported by strong moral values. He further urged them to listen, learn, share, network and reflect throughout the training and return to their respective workplaces renewed for service.
The programme is being facilitated by Way of Truth Ministries from the United States of America, whose partnership is supporting the spiritual and professional development of chaplains across the disciplined services. Through the training, the ministry is sharing expertise and creating a platform for participants to strengthen their understanding of chaplaincy, pastoral care and counselling while exchanging experiences and practical approaches to ministry in demanding service environments.
The training is coordinated by Pastor Benson Waema, with KFS Chaplain, Bishop Amos Ololdapash, providing leadership in the chaplaincy engagement. Reverend Dan Woodring represents Way of Truth Ministries in the programme, which also provides an opportunity for fellowship, collaboration and strengthening professional networks among chaplains from the participating services.
The three-day engagement seeks to further equip chaplains to provide effective spiritual and pastoral support to officers and their families, while strengthening unity and collaboration among the disciplined services. The training offers an opportunity to refresh and rekindle the commitment to the ministry of service, ensuring chaplains return to their institutions better prepared to support those who dedicate their lives to serving and protecting the nation.
