DEPARTMENT OF FOREST MANAGEMENT
Forest management is the application of modern business methods and technical handling of forestry resources and soil to produce maximum forest products desired in quality and quantity on sustainable basis. Therefore forest managers needs to have earthly and intimate forest understanding of silviculturists, skills of administrator and all resourceful of a businessman in order to manipulate forests to provide desired goods and service.
In order to achieve the above, the department in collaboration with other departments in college is training technical officers who are foccused and equipped with neccesary forestry skills to take up the challenges in forest management.
The department has the following subjects:Forest Management, Forest Mensuration, Forest Law and Policy, Forest Administration, Forest Economics
SHORT COURSES OFFERED
- Two weeks course on participating forest management for all stakeholders especially the community
- One Week course on Ecotourism Enterprise -targeting youths
- Two Week course on Natural Resource Management
- Two week course on Forestry Inventory- targets saw millers and private companies and KFS staff
