DEPARTMENT OF BASIC SCIENCE
The subjects taught in this department lay the essential foundation for students to undertake the entire forestry course. Subjects undertaken are in two categories.
The first category is conducted in the two-year certificate course and includes the following subjects: Botany, Dendrology, Ecology, Soil science, Meteorology, Psychology, Mathematics and Statistics, and Counselling.
The second category is offered in the one year diploma in-service course and includes the following subjects: Biochemistry, Environmental Studies, Botany and zoology, Development studies, and Statistics. Statistics is very crucial as it assist the students in analyzing their data during special projects.
