WELCOME TO THE KENYA FORESTRY COLLEGE
Kenya Forest College was established in 1956, and is a training institution of the Kenya Forest Service. The college is responsible for training technical personnel in forestry and allied natural resources, to build capacity for development of the forest sector.
So far 1866 Forest Rangers, 2,328 Certificate students and 1512 diploma students students have graduated from the college. The college also offers short courses in various aspects of forestry, and over 100 such courses have been mounted. The college trains both local and foreign students, and thus far students from Rwanda, Somalia, Zambia, Ethiopia, Malawi, Burundi, Comoro islands, Grenada, Botswana, Tanzania, Uganda, Namibia, Swaziland, Angola and Sudan have trained at the Kenya Forestry College at various times.
Kenya Forestry College, Londiani is located in Kipkelion district (formerly the larger Kericho district) four kilometers along the main Nakuru – Kericho road from the total junction. It lies on a 10,000 acre piece of land (Masaita forest block), which serves as a model for teaching, research and demonstration. The college lies in a quiet rural setting conducive for study and research with beautiful mountainous scenery for site seeing, bird watching, camping plus general recreation in a cool forest biome.
The college offers training at the diploma and certificate levels, and short courses in forestry and related fields. Basic paramilitary and forest management training is also offered to Forest Rangers and other. New training programmes are in process.
