The division is broadly comprises of operation and fire disaster preparedness, Intelligence, Administration, Training and Investigation departments.
The mission of the ENCOM division is at all times protect all gazetted forests, provisional forests and Enforce forest Act 2005.
Security of Forest Resources (forest protection) The division protects the forest resource through manning of beats/ posts and conducting patrols in forest stations.
ENFORCEMENT OF FOREST ACT 2005
The division ensures the forest Act 2005 is enforced and complied to through inspections, mounting of high way patrols and arresting and prosecuting those found to have violated the forest Act.
COLLECTION OF INTELLIGENCE
The world trend is to detect and prevent illegal activities before they occur. The collection of Intelligence through surveillance and human intelligence to guide operations and neutralize other threats are undertaken by the intelligence department of the division.
The investigation department’s conducts investigation of incidents reported in order to inform on the way forward. This is done by visiting the scenes of incidents, questioning suspects and writing findings.
Operations, fire and disaster preparedness department conducts operations for instance evictions where there is encroachment, conducts inspections of forest stations plantations and natural forests and neutralize fires when they occur in support of field officers.
STAFF CAPACITY BUILDING
The division trains equip and administer the forest rangers. The training is conducted in school of paramilitary training (SPMT) at KFC Londiani.
OTHER NATIONAL DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
Towards projecting the Image of the service the division participates in National functions including
- National paradesThanksgiving ceremonies
- Provision of security during examinations and general elections in support of the police.
- Liaise with other security agencies through sharing of information and intelligence of mutual interest.
