Guidelines for operating ecotourism & recreational facilities in public forests

During operation phase of ecotourism & recreational facilities, developers should: 

•Get water, energy and other resources from sustainable sources and take overt actions to save these.

•Manage all forms of wastewater effectively and take overt actions to avoid, reduce, re-use and recycle wastewater. 

•Manage all forms of solid waste effectively and take overt actions to avoid, reduce, re-use and recycle solid wastes.

•Prevent and control pollution effectively including taking action to avoid air, noise, light and other forms of pollution.  

•Ensure there are adequate safety and emergency response provisions for visitors and staff. 

•Tangibly support the forest adjacent community including by employment, training, purchase of locally-made products and services and supporting related community-based tourism enterprises.

•Have clear programs to support marginalized sections of the community including women, youth and persons living with disabilities.

•Act to improve forests and forest conservation.
